Rome is without a doubt one the most beautiful cities in the world; every year millions of tourists come from around the world to admire the treasures and masterpieces of Roman art and architecture. On arrival at Rome railway station, you will be transferred to the hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure. Overnight in Rome.
After breakfast, proceed for Skip the Line Sistine Chapel and Vatican museums. Stand inside the Sistine Chapel 30 minutes before it opens to the public with this early-access ticket to the chapel and the rest of the Vatican Museums complex. This is an exclusive opportunity to admire Michelangelo’s famous ceiling fresco and his other works in a tranquil, crowd-free atmosphere. When you leave the chapel, you can then explore the other rooms and galleries of the Museums, such as Raphael’s Rooms, at your leisure, plus you’ll skip the entrance lines. Rest of the evening is free at leisure to explore the attractions of your choice. Overnight in Rome.
Time to change landscapes and to immerse yourself in the Tuscan countryside. Visit Grosseto, a friendly, laid back town, with a beautiful piazza crowned by the cathedral and many cafes. We will also spend some time in Bolgheri, a pretty little village where good food and wine are a way of life. Carry on to Livorno, a busy port town, and either spend the evening exploring on your own or join an optional Tuscan farm dinner.
Travelling north, the highlight today is the visit of the Cinque Terre National Park, a unique scenic area of rare beauty. We will reach some of the colorful fishing villages by train and spend some time taking in the charm of the spectacular landscapes. We then travel on to Genoa, former Maritime Republic and birthplace of great explorers. The traditional recipe here is the “focaccia” flatbread, and you’ll be able to taste the real thing, along with visiting the quaint village of Camogli on the evening optional excursion – please note that some uphill walking is involved.
The morning is dedicated to relaxing or to exploring the Medieval city center of Genoa with a local guide on the optional city tour or to roam on your own. In the afternoon, transfer to Milan, the capital of fashion with a traditional heart.
Having had an introduction to the city, you can dedicate the day to window-shopping in the fashion district (quadrilatero della moda), visiting museums, or strolling along the Navigli canals. Milan is a city worthy of being discovered, always buzzing with events and exhibitions.
Today you will be met and transferred to the airport for your flight back home.
